Extnct is a Canadian survival gear company built on a simple premise: the tools you carry into the wilderness should work when everything else goes wrong.
The Story
It started with a problem in the backcountry.
In 2023, Canada reported 7,131 wildfires with a record-breaking 17 million hectares burned. The gap between a recreational trip and a fire emergency is getting narrower every season.
People were heading into the wilderness with no fire suppression tool, or carrying a bulky extinguisher that weighs 5-10 lbs and uses chemical agents that contaminate the soil and water. There had to be a better way. So we built one.
The Mission
Make fire safety packable.
We design tools that fit in your pack without compromise. The FireSafe Wilderness Fire Blanket is our first product: a silicone-coated fiberglass fire blanket with Kevlar stitching that smothers flames without chemicals, without pressure, and without moving parts that can fail.
It weighs 575g, packs to the size of a water bottle, and meets the EN-1869:2019 fire blanket standard. No expiration date. No maintenance. No annual pressure checks.
